[…] For the intervention at the Castello di Ama, Solakov "populates" the walls of the rooms, where his famous wine is usually tasted, with small writings and drawings, apparently childish and improvised, where with subtle irony, catchy phrases and small characters are they insinuate themselves between existing objects or between the cavities of the wall, giving rise to apparently paradoxical dialogues and situations that delve into the history, the usual intended use and the new role within the contemporary art system of the castle itself.
In a contemporary and ironic version of the millenary tradition of wall painting and fresco painting in Tuscany, the artist constructs parallel stories in which the pre-existing objects and architectural elements in the room come alive with a life of their own and reveal a vigilant and receptive spirit of what happens around them, such as the menacing hold of the phone that exclaims/reveals that it “knows a lot of things” or the light switches that talk to each other about the importance of their mutual position.
