We stopped using insecticides in our vineyards many years ago as we now use natural defenses. For example, we do not need pesticides to fight the mealybugs which like to feast on grapes because there are other insects in the vineyard to do the job for us. But when there are not enough of them then it is up to us to repopulate them and this is what we have done today. In the splendid Bellavista Vineyard we have freed these little creatures to be our friends. A predator species (Cryptolemus) is none other than the lucky ladybird. Another one (Anagyrus) is a parasite to our enemies. Aside from defending the vineyard, they restore the natural balance between the species.
